GelNest™ is a basement membrane product identical in composition and performance to Corning® Matrigel® Matrix. GelNest™ Matrix extracted from Engelbreth-Holm-Swarm (EHS) mouse sarcomas using genetically identical mouse lines and SOP's. EHS tumors contain plentiful ECM proteins such as laminin (60% ), collagen IV (30%), heparan sulfate proteoglycans, nidogen (8%), and several growth factors. Part number 211212 is the standard and most commonly used version of GelNest™ Matrix. It is suitable for a wide range of 2D and 3D cell culture applications and assays. Equivalent to Corning: 356234, 354234, 356235. Please note this formulation contains phenol red as an indicator. When frozen the color may differ from yellow to dark red. This is normal and results from the interaction of carbon dioxide, the bicarbonate buffer and phenol red. The color variation is harmless and goes away when the product reaches temperature and carbon dioxide equilibrium in the incubator.
